Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon

Hey! Here we are again. Behold, the second installment of the USA Roadtrip:

After leaving the breezy West Coast around L.A. we started heading eastbound.
Several hours traversing the desert brought us to Sin City:

Welcome to Las Vegas!

Thanks to the bidding feature at priceline.com we got to indulge in luxury accommodations at the Palazzo for a fraction of the sticker price.

Quite the upgrade from the hostel dorms in LA!

Back again - after 10 years!

We enjoyed the incredible Cirque du Soleil show "KA" at the MGM Grand, and had our fair share of entertainment in the local casinos, playing in a few poker tournaments.

Unfortunately photos were not allowed in any of the poker room. So you will miss out on Max's poker face as he is contemplating an all-in move... :)

Since there is only so much time you can spend in Vegas (without going broke) we decided to brave the desert once more, on to new adventures...

Quick stop at the Hoover Dam - still cranking out electricity after nearly 80 years in service!

And made it before sunset! Behold....drum roll....

The Grand Canyon!

Next morning, refreshed and ready to see more Canyon, here we go:

Breath-taking views.

On top of the world!!!

The views got even better as the sun started going down and shadows added more texture to the landscape.

Cool effect with the clouds/airplane vapor in the sky.

If you want to see more of the 500+ pictures we took here just let us know, we'll be happy to share!
(And no, we are not kidding, we really took that many pictures. OK, mostly Sylvia's fault.)

Next up: New Mexico and Texas! Yeeehaawww!

  1. Awesome! We flew over the Grand Canyon at sunset a few years ago on a flight into SLC and it was so so beautiful. Safe travels!
